What was your first job as a journalist?
I've been writing stories since primary school (!) but my first paid writing commissions were for QUT publications while studying.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I have but not well. Those keys were brutal
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
They all frustrate me as they have no respect for deadlines!
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means taking the responsibility to honestly and thoughtfully tell important stories to an audience.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
So many. Otter.ai, iA Writer, an iPhone and a Kindle Scribe top the list.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter is still my favourite social network even though it can be a bit troubling.

Why did you become a journalist?
I have a very particular set of skills and they're all related to journalism.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I could never choose just one. I'm really excited to be covering the many machinations of Australia's transition to zero-emission transport.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Ask the silly questions, the tough questions, and follow each of them with more detailed queries to find the real story.

Mid-morning

Berocca Boost: you're getting a B vitamin but also caffeine.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Behind a camera or flipping the pages of a book.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I read as much as I can, so there are a lot of publications on my list, but The Saturday Paper, Wired, NYT, and Guardian are among them.
