The Toronto International Film Festival has unveiled its first batch of honorees for the 2026 TIFF Tribute Awards, locking in Penélope Cruz, Lee Chang-dong, Rosalind Eleazar, Siân Heder, and Isabelle Huppert for its annual star-studded gala. The event, which officially kicks off the fall awards circuit, is set to take place Sunday, Sept. 13 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. Oscar winner Penélope Cruz will take home the Special Tribute Award during a packed year.

Comedy fans looking to escape the outdoor heat over Labor Day weekend will find a brand-new setup inside the Seattle Children’s Theatre. Bumbershoot is moving its Comedy Coop into the air-conditioned, trading the crowded tents for real theater seating and sharp audio, far away from the thump of nearby bass lines. Local stand-up Dan Hurwitz, known for creating the showcase The Disabled List, took the reins on curation this year.

At the time, brothers Akarawin (“Boss”) and Jakkapat (“JP”) Lertsirisin set out to build a restaurant around a single, beloved dish - and they succeeded.
