INDEPENDENCE DAY FORECAST: High temperatures will be in the upper 90s Saturday, with some spots even briefly reaching 100 degrees. The heat index will be up to 105. We are actually fortunate that it won’t be higher than that.

Monday evening update: We had several severe thunderstorm warnings today for wind gusts and hail, along with very heavy rain and frequent lightning! The storms will end by 9pm and the rest of tonight and Tuesday morning will be dry with lows in the mid 70s. The western portion of the CSRA is under a heat advisory once again tomorrow from noon-8pm for a heat index up to 107 degrees. The actual temperatures will be in the mid 90s.

VIPIR 6 ALERT DAY NOW-8AM FRIDAY….The remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur are strengthening due to deep tropical moisture, a low level jet, and an approaching cold front. All of the ingredients are in place to make for wet and windy conditions tonight with a few strong to severe storms. TIMING: 4pm-7pm Thursday (now): Isolated strong to severe storms with up to 60 mph wind gusts. Winds outside of storms are only around 20-30 mph. Overall, think of a typical hot & humid summer day with storms.
