I'm a senior news writer and founding staffer at The Trace, a nonprofit outlet devoted to gun violence and policy. Before that I spent eight years at The New York Times, first as a news assistant on the Metro desk, then as a columnists' assistant in the Editorial department. In 2009 and 2010 I was the lead writer for the paper's annual Neediest Cases campaign.
