Habitat Montana shouldn’t be a tough issue for any Land Board

Democratic legislators listening to Missoulians
Whether your family has lived in Big Sky Country for decades or you're a first-generation Montanan, all of us are united by the promise of our Montana values: hard work, rugged independence and a commitment to join together and lift each other up in the face of adversity. When we see a neighbor struggling to dig out their car after a winter like the one we just had, Montanans don’t tum away and pretend not to notice. We grab a shovel and go help them out. And we don’t stop until the work is done.
Put Montanans first

Budget cuts hit bone
Like Montanans across the state, my husband and I sit down at our kitchen table and balance our checkbook each month. We pay our bills, we look at our bank account, we readjust our budget, and we do our best to put aside money for the months and years ahead.Recently, Montana received some disturbing news: the amount of money coming into our state is not enough to pay our bills.
Successes of the 2017 Legislature
Imagine you were told, as you headed onto the field, that your team would have nearly one-third fewer players than the opposing team — and that the other team would get to set the rules that you would have to play by.For Democrats in the 2017 Legislature, that has been our reality. In order to get good things done, Democrats worked hard to reach across the aisle and bring others on board.

Businesses, Families Top Dem Agenda
Montana Democrats in the House of Representatives have spent the first eight weeks of this legislative session working to strengthen families and businesses across the state. We look to you, our constituents, to share your views and insights with us as we work to keep Montana the last best place. This session, House Democrats have introduced bills that support small businesses and help workers across our great state.
Paid leave good for families
At some point, nearly every worker faces a moment when they need leave, whether it’s to care for an aging parent, help a family member after surgery, recover from their own illness or injury, or welcome a new child into the family. As the Montana Legislature debates ways to improve the lives of Montanans, I wanted to take a moment to highlight one important issue.
What Unites Us in 2017?
Montana has made progress in recent years, but we need to continue to work hard this legislative session to shore up our economy and create good paying jobs across our state. We know that in 2017, we’ll face some serious challenges. Weak oil and gas prices led to a drop in revenue, so money is tight. And unpredictability in the federal government threatens to reverse much of the progress we’ve made. At the same time, we are facing increasing needs for infrastructure improvements across the state.
