Last week’s motivation to get outside was twofold: rocks and beavers. First, it was the rocks. I joined a few friends to visit the rock wall south of the Ririe Reservoir next to the Meadow Creek Road. The name of the climbing wall is called Midget Widget. As the name implies, the volcanic basalt rock cliffs are a bit shrimpy — some less than 30 feet high, others in the 40-foot range. This area has received some renewed interest lately because of six recently bolted sport routes.
