Elkcam Boulevard elevation plan aims to prevent future flooding in Deltona

DELTONA, Fla. — Officials in Deltona are studying a $7 million plan to elevate Elkcam Boulevard after flooding from hurricanes Ian and Nicole made the road impassable for several months in 2022. The city hired an engineering and consulting firm last month to determine how to elevate the road, which, according to state data, sees more than 8,000 drivers each day. Until design, engineering and permitting are completed and approved by the state, it is unclear when construction could begin.
