Have you ever used a typewriter?
Can't say I have. Not sure that I would want to -- too much noise, and you have to reset after every finishing each line!
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Mikael Blomkvist from "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." He combines investigative reporting skills with a sense of justice and an aura of cool.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Wrote a regular humor column called "Freshman Perspective" and kept that name through my senior year. Editor-in-Chief as a senior.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
For emotional meaning, my column "What generation gap?" in the Chicago Tribune, since it was my first piece for a major outlet.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
The Anagram Times, where they rearrange the letters of real headlines to make new sentences which oddly fit.
