The leaves are dropping, why not the temperature?
Categories: October 22, 2026 With 90-degree weather in October, and beach towns flooding waist-deep, it’s hard to ignore the unusual changes in our climate. Although it is an El Niño year, which is a normal weather pattern, we are seeing changes that are out of the ordinary and the current administration is to blame. We should be enjoying a cool autumn watching the leaves change from green to brown, a nice cooling breeze and our favorite fall drinks.
Flock cameras are proving more harmful than helpful
Surveillance systems have been used for years and with Ring doorbells and home security systems becoming the norm, we are being watched more than ever. Flock cameras are supposed to be an improvement to the public security system, designed to capture footage of and identify criminals, record traffic-based crimes and scan license plates–or at least what the users want us to think. Flock cameras are extremely harmful to society and surveillance is killing our freedom.

Finding yourself: Gen Z’s obsession with their individuality
Individuality by definition, sets us apart and makes us unique, but how do we know when it has gone too far? The internet has provided us with an accessible way to explore music, film and various types of media helping us form a certain aesthetic or simply add interests to our lives. When you’re a music lover, seeing an artist perform live is the ultimate goal, but when buying tickets to a concert, you’re left wondering: “Why is it so expensive?” Ticket prices have risen as the days go by and it is a complete disrespect to people who want to support their favorite artist at a live performance. Immaculate: Not New Enough
Religious horror is nothing new. Ghosts, spirits, and demons have taken over homes and bodies on the big screen, necessitating many exorcisms by innumerable priests that result in endless sequels. It seems that audiences are particularly obsessed with Catholicism and all it has to offer media about this paranormal fight between good and evil. Immaculate, directed by Michael Mohan, was recently released to theaters, a new addition to the ever-growing collection of religious horror films.
Putting Letterboxd to Use / The Cinephile’s Dating App ???
Tinder. Farmers Only. Hinge. Christian Mingle. Letterboxd? As someone whose deal-breaker is not caring about film, I’ve started considering Letterboxd—an app dedicated to reviewing movies—a viable matchmaking landscape. I follow some close friends, stealing their logged movies and stowing them away in my watchlist, but most of the profiles I follow belong to complete strangers. User HorrorSage exclusively logs obscure horror flicks that often sit way below the 3/5 star rating.
Hate Before Love: A Retrospective on When Harry Met Sally
The start of a season signifies a new beginning, and I often find myself offsetting change with a return to something familiar. Over a year after I first watched it, I decided to give When Harry Met Sally a second chance, needing to understand what has made it so comforting—especially around autumn—to viewers over the 34 years since its release.
86 Temple Street
Michelle Foley I’d spent all afternoon in the stacks. It was a Saturday, and I was fast approaching the one-month mark of my time at Yale. I couldn’t have felt more stressed, lonely or desperate for a moment of quiet familiarity. I turned to Bow Tie Criterion, the movie theater at 86 Temple St. That evening, I went to watch “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” on my own. Already, it would be the fourth movie I’d seen at the theater, but it would be my first solo.

The Existential Kaleidoscope of Infinity Pool
Brandon Cronenberg’s third feature film, Infinity Pool, comes three years after his disturbing film Possessor. Although his sophomore feature feels like a blend of science fiction and horror, Cronenberg’s appetite for the combination evaporates in Infinity Pool. Science fiction in particular provides a gimmicky backdrop rather than fully integrated plot devices to explore questions about wealth, power, life, death, and sex.
Self-love Wanderlust
Jessai Flores I recently discovered that sometimes I just want to keep walking. The idea of sitting down in an enclosed space makes me slightly queasy—or rather, it’s the idea of leaving the cool open skies that makes my stomach sink. So I move through the northeastern neighborhoods that look completely foreign to my Texas-landscape-accustomed eyes; my mind is plugged right into the music in my ears and the pavement under my shoes and the sweet air in my lungs on a rare sunny winter day.
New Haven’s Holiday Glow
Jessai Flores Orange is my new favorite color. Not the neon orange of a giant puffer jacket, definitely not the toxic orange of a bad spray tan, not even the pastel orange of a delicately-blended eyeshadow look. It’s the orange of the New Haven Green at 4:09 pm as the sun descends toward the western horizon, painting the tops of City Hall, the Chase building and United Church on the Green in the warmest hue I could dream up.
Your Halloween film recommendations from a team Aristotle horror aficionado
Jessai Flores I’ve made it my personality to love horror movies. I watch several a month, almost one a day on school breaks. I listen to horror movie podcasts and watch horror movie YouTube channels. Every other post on my Twitter feed is about horror movies. You could say I’m a horror kind of gal. Last year, a friend sent me a YouTube video about the paradox of horror.

Whiplash: A Bulldog-Days-induced reflection on my first year so far
Jessica Sanchez 11:41 pm, Mar 17, 2022 Contributing Reporter Catherine Kwon My main goal this April is to not traumatize any admitted students. I need to adjust the story I’ve been telling everyone and their mother lately: the story of my miserable first semester — and the unbelievable 180º this spring semester has been. The latter is a great story to tell the incoming Yalies. It’s a story of adjustment, of victory, of learning to love and loving learning.
Elizabeth Watson I’ve thought a lot about how we fell for each other out of necessity. The conditions were too perfect: being unable to see anyone meant I lost touch with a ton of people, but those who remained in my life became essential. Playing Jackbox over Zoom and watching movies every weekend, FaceTiming between online classes, having picnics and taking walks and swimming.
