Abstract Mycobacterium orygis (M. orygis), a member of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, has emerged as an important cause of animal and human tuberculosis in South Asia. Despite the widespread prevalence of bovine tuberculosis (bTB) in India and the major role of over 100 million Indian water buffaloes in dairy production, the pathological and epidemiological features of M. orygis infection in buffaloes are largely unexplored.

Abstract We describe the whole-genome sequencing and comparative genomic analysis of 22 mastitis-associated NASM strains isolated from India. The mean genome size of the strains was 2.55 Mbp, with an average GC content of 32.2%. We identified 14 different sequence types (STs) among the 22 NASM strains. Of these, ST1 and ST6 of S. chromogenes were exclusively associated with bovine mastitis.

Abstract Pseudomonas aeruginosa is recognized for its ability to colonize diverse habitats and cause disease in a variety of hosts, including plants, invertebrates, and mammals. Understanding how this bacterium is able to occupy wide-ranging niches is important for deciphering its ecology. We used transposon sequencing (Tn-Seq, also known as INSeq) to identify genes in P. aeruginosa that contribute to fitness during colonization of Drosophila melanogaster.
