Dementia Risk in Type 1 and 2 Diabetes: A Nationwide Population-Based Comparison
1 Introduction Individuals with diabetes appear to face an elevated probability of developing dementia, encompassing Alzheimer's disease (AD) and vascular dementia (VaD) [1, 2]. There is a growing understanding that chronic hyperglycemia may potentially contribute to a decline in cognitive function and an increased risk of dementia in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes [3].

GPX4‐mediated bone ferroptosis under mechanical stress decreased bone formation via the YAP‐TEAD signalling pathway
1 INTRODUCTION The objective of orthodontic tooth motion is to attain equilibrium between osteoblasts and osteoclasts. It is of two types: compression force side and tension side. It causes bone formation and absorption. The production of active oxygen by reactive oxygen species (ROS) leads to an imbalance in osteoblasts and bone metabolism, resulting in a powerful oxidative stress resistance system.
Cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy and incident diabetic kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes
Abstract Aims We investigated the association between cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN) and incident diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Methods This retrospective longitudinal study included 2,033 patients with type 2 diabetes (mean age 57.2 years, 57.4% male, and median diabetes duration 8.0 years), free of renal dysfunction or cardiovascular disease at initiation.
Statin use for primary prevention in patients with type 2 diabetes: Can it benefit all ages? - A nationwide propensity-matched cohort study
Abstract Aims This study aims to investigate whether statin use is associated with a reduction in CVD and mortality in patients with type 2 diabetes without CVD. Methods A propensity score-matched cohort analysis using retrospective data was created. Statin users received at least a 90-day prescription, and never used statin before initiation of the study. Statin non-users never received statin throughout the study.

Low skeletal muscle mass is associated with the presence, incidence, and progression of coronary artery calcification
ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Low skeletal muscle mass (SMM) is an emerging risk factor of cardiovascular disease (CVD). We investigated the association between SMM and coronary artery calcification (CAC). METHODS: We enrolled 19,728 adults free of CVD who underwent computed tomographic estimation of Agatston CAC scores for cross-sectional analysis. Among them, 5,401 subjects who had two and more follow-up CAC scores were included in longitudinal analysis.
The association between lipoprotein (a) and carotid atherosclerosis in patients with type 2 diabetes without pre-existing cardiovascular disease: A cross-sectional study
Highlights • Lipoprotein (a) has been considered a determinant of residual cardiovascular risk. • Higher lipoprotein (a) level was significantly associated with having carotid atherosclerosis in patients with type 2 diabetes. • Higher lipoprotein (a) level was significantly associated with an increased risk of carotid atherosclerosis in patients with optimal LDL-choleterol level <100mg/dL. • The plasma lipoprotein (a) and LDL-cholesterol additively increased the risk of carotid atherosclerosis.
Increase in serum albumin concentration is associated with prediabetes development and progression to overt diabetes independently of metabolic syndrome
A total of 4,398 incident cases of prediabetes developed during 35,807 person-years (median 3.8 years). The hazard ratio for incident prediabetes decreased as percent change in serum albumin concentration (quartiles and per 1%) increased in a crude and fully adjusted model. However, baseline serum albumin concentration itself was not associated with prediabetic risk.
Change in Serum Bilirubin Level as a Predictor of Incident Metabolic Syndrome
Serum bilirubin level was negatively associated with the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in previous cross-sectional studies. However, bilirubin variance preceding the development of MetS has yet to be investigated. We aimed to determine the effect of change in bilirubin concentration on the risk of incident MetS in healthy Korean adults. We conducted a retrospective longitudinal study of subjects who had undergone at least four yearly health check-ups between 2006 and 2012.
