1 Introduction and Background Mechanical ventilation (MV) is a common intervention for critically ill patients in intensive care units (ICUs) (Ma et al. 2022). In severe cases, MV is often accompanied by sedation and immobilisation, leading to prolonged disuse of the respiratory muscles and subsequent muscle weakness (Minhas et al. 2015).

3. Results and Discussion The leakage flow rate, flow-induced force, and static stiffness coefficient under different eccentricities are regarded as response variables, and the main effect plots are created accordingly. Table 5 presents the determination coefficients of the polynomial fitting models for these response variables.
