Lehman College students are getting a new option to live closer to campus with the opening of the college’s first-ever residence hall in the Bronx. The Lehman Grand opened earlier this month inside the historic Dollar Savings Bank building on the Grand Concourse, not far from the college’s campus. Comptroller urges city to make it easier for schools to close streets for recess

New York City Comptroller Mark Levine is calling on the city to expand its School Streets program to help address a shortage of outdoor space for physical education and recess at hundreds of public schools. A new report from Levine’s office found 371 schools across the city have no outdoor space for physical education. Levine said nearly all of those schools have a street adjacent to the building that could potentially be used through the School Streets program.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani's administration is suing to block a new law that would pay paraprofessionals a ten thousand dollar bonus — even though Mamdani himself publicly supported that policy on the campaign trail. The lawsuit puts Mamdani in a difficult political position: arguing against a unanimously passed bill to boost the pay of some of the city's lowest-wage workers, who start at just around $32,000 a year to support children with disabilities.
