Columbia River levels set to rise in New Year - Castlegar News

Greater Trail and Castlegar residents can expect a higher and faster flowing Columbia River this weekend. BC Hydro sent out a flow change notification warning that the discharge rates from the Arrow Lake Reservoir north of Castlegar will start to increase Friday, Jan. 2. The discharges start at 7 a.m., go at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. and the rate will increase over that time from 25,000 to 40,000 ft3/s. On Saturday, Jan.

How are these sonic booms affecting other residents, infants’ and children’s developing auditory and nervous systems, pets and wildlife? How are veterans with certain forms of PTSD reacting to something that sounds like large explosion? These are not a new concerns.

Semi-trailer crashes into Warfield Petro-Canada canopy - Castlegar News

A semi-trailer crashed into the Petro-Canada Gas Station in Warfield on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The top of the trailer from Berry and Smith Trucking Ltd. ran into the Petro-Canada canopy causing extensive damage. “Unfortunately we will be closed until further notice due to an accident on site,” wrote Warfield Petro-Canada management on social media. “We will keep you posted.
