The United States’ Senior World freestyle wrestling team is set and five wrestlers from the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, including one current Penn State team member, will make up half of the 10-man squad. Penn State All-America Marcus Blaze won at 65 kilograms while NLWC members Zain Retherford (70kg), Levi Haines (79kg), Kyle Dake (86kg) and Kyle Snyder (97kg) also claimed World team berths on Friday at the Final X event in Newark, New Jersey. The team will compete Oct. 24-Nov.

Penn State wrestlers Luke Lilledahl, Marcus Blaze win U.S. Open titles, advance to Final X

Penn State wrestlers Luke Lilledahl and Marcus Blaze avenged earlier defeats to longtime rivals and won U.S. Senior Open titles Saturday night in Las Vegas. Lilledahl (57 kilograms) and Blaze (61kg) were part of a 13-man Nittany Lion contingent which entered the Vegas event to attempt to earn bids to the Final X event June 19 in Newark, New Jersey, when the USA Senior World team will be named. Penn State’s Levi Haines already has qualified for Final X at 79kg by virtue of his U-23 World title.
