The Tigers opened their season with a trip to Deming where they completely dominated the Wildcats, with the Varsity winning the best of five match, 3-0. The JV also took their opponents to the cleaners, in a 2-0 victory in their best of three match. The Varsity Tigers were completely in charge, controlling the court from the fist serve, They won their sets, 25-8, 25-8 and 25-11.

Here's a look at the Hot Springs High School Tiger Volleyball team as they start out their season. Tiger Volleyball serves up their first match of the season on Tuesday, August 18 on the road. The team will travel to Deming to take on the Wildcats in Varsity and JV matches. Last year's season opener had the Wildcats coming to the Den, where the Tigers dispatched them in a 3-1 win. It was bragging rights only for the Tigers on August 13, that and a chance for some heavy-duty team assessment by the coach. In this first, nearly real game action in the preseason, the Tigers hosted the Cobre Indians for a Thursday evening scrimmage at Tiger Stadium. Both teams came ready for battle and went full tilt despite the scrimmage having no impact on season record. The scrimmage gave coaching staff for both teams to assess plays, positions and the power of their squads.
