What was your first job as a journalist?
I wrote Press Releases for KROQ in the last '80s.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, and edited reel to reel with a razor blade.
How is social media changing news?
For the better and worse It is instant, which is good. It is not always accurate or truthful, which is way-way bad.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Tp tell stories that take you back in time, that explain the here and now or project you into the future; and to provide truth or hope.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Direct with no BS!
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Everything and anything.
What's your favorite social network?
Despite all the complaints, I like Facebook, it's easy to communicate with others.
Who do you wish followed you?
Bowie was the coolest!
Why did you become a journalist?
I love telling stories that help people in one form or another.

I view each story we publish, I am proud of each and every one.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Follow your passion, do not allow your success to get to your head, and do not let any shortcomings blacken your heart.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Late afternoons.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
A photographer once told me she can bring certain photos to life and it will pierce your soul.
What's your favorite drink?
Diet Pepsi
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Listening to music in one form another.
