1 Introduction Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is the most common type of focal drug-resistant epilepsy in adults [1]. Damage to the internal structures of the temporal lobe can significantly impact cognitive functions, particularly learning and memory [2, 3]. Current treatment regimens can only stabilize the epileptic condition and have limited value in improving the cognitive performance of TLE patients [4, 5].
