Hello Mid-Ohio Valley farmers and gardeners! Fall is here, but you would not know it as daytime highs reached 86 degrees Fahrenheit this week. A few days without rain have allowed things to dry out and backyard gardeners to catch up on some work around the home and in the garden. Several farmers made a final cut of hay these last couple days. This week, let's talk about lawn care. When autumn temperatures arrive, many people forget about the lawn.

Hello, Mid-Ohio Valley farmers and gardeners. What a week as the rain continues here in the valley. Many places have received over 4 inches since last Saturday, and numerous areas experienced flooding. Hopefully we get a break and have some dry weather ahead for harvesting crops and working in the garden. This week, I want to discuss fall asters. I know, the chrysanthemum is the go-to flower for fall and with good reason. However, we need some variety in plants and colors.

Hello Mid-Ohio Valley farmers and gardeners! Summer heat is hanging on in September, but mild temperatures are on the way as summer fades into fall. The fall equinox and the first day of autumn arrive on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 8:04 P.M. EDT in the Northern Hemisphere. Fall means football, watching the leaves turn color and fall off our deciduous trees, and of course another opportunity to garden.
