Hello Mid-Ohio Valley farmers and gardeners! Many areas here in the valley recorded over 3 inches of rain this week. In addition, several areas experienced flooding. We creep closer to autumn every day, so now is a good time to plant crops for the fall garden such as kale, Swiss chard, lettuce and other greens, cauliflower and of course one of my favorites, broccoli. Broccoli (Brassica oleracea L.) is a great addition for the fall garden.

Hello Mid-Ohio Valley farmers and gardeners! This first week of August finds many gardeners harvesting tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. There is still time to plants some lates summer squash and start some fall vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower. This week I want to talk about deadheading flowers. As we roll into August, many annual and perennial flowers are blooming.

Hello Mid-Ohio Valley farmers and gardeners! Cooler temperatures prevail this week as we say goodbye to July and hello to August. I want to send a big thank you to all the supporters of our 4-H and FFA livestock program here in Wood County. We had a successful week at the Wood County 4-H and FFA Summer Showcase where youth display their talents and their animal projects. We appreciate the community support of 4-H and FFA.
