Dylan Edwards put a hand to his forehead and felt the gushing blood. The 20-year-old forward was celebrating an Ontario Hockey League championship with his Kitchener Rangers teammates last month, skating around Sadlon Arena in Barrie, Ont., after their clinching victory. But his left eyebrow, nose and jersey were stained red as though he had been part of a bench-clearing brawl. And he didn’t know why. Despite the injury, Edwards still basked in the glow.
