Swedish Hockey League team Färjestad BK has terminated the contract of defenseman Cal Foote two days after signing the 27-year-old to a one-year contract. Foote was one of five members of Team Canada’s 2018 World Junior squad who were acquitted on sexual assault charges in July 2025 following an alleged incident in June 2018 involving a woman in a London, Ont., hotel room.

Amazon is extending its reach into the Canadian hockey broadcasting landscape. Amazon’s streaming service, Prime Video, and Rogers Communications have announced a 12-year agreement to broadcast NHL regular-season games in English and French on Wednesday nights, as well as Stanley Cup playoff games. The agreement will begin on Sept. 30, one day after the start of the 2026-27 regular season.
