1 Introduction The peripheral nervous system (PNS), consisting of sensory and motor neurons, is an electrosensitive tissue having conductivity ranging between 0.08 and 1 mS cm−1. Therefore, biomaterials intended for nerve repair should ideally be electroconductive to mimic the native bioelectric microenvironment. Moreover, the application of external electrical stimulation (ES) through such electroconductive biomaterials (ECBs) significantly enhances nerve regeneration processes [1].
