ALTADENA, Calif. — Spectrum News first met Pasadena Firefighter engineer Chien Yu in January 2025 when he shared his story about fighting the Eaton Fire while not knowing whether his home in Altadena would still be standing. At the end of his 18-hour shift on the first night of the fires, he found his home was gone, destroyed in the Eaton Fire. It’s been more than a year since the Eaton Fire broke out, and the Yu family is on the road to rebuilding.

X Games gold medal-winning skateboarder from Malibu hopes to compete in second Olympics

MALIBU, Calif. — The MoonPay X Games is heading to Sacramento, running June 26-28. And some local Southern California athletes will be competing. The list includes Tom Schaar, the Paris Olympics silver medalist in skateboarding who is hoping to also compete in the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. The professional skateboarder, X Games athlete and Olympian lives in Cardiff now but is a Malibu native.

Fire officials say SoCal’s wildfire season isn't seasonal
