What does it mean to be a journalist?
You are the voice of the truth. Never compromise, no matter what you perceive as reasons to do so.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I started learning Adobe PhotoShop in 1990, when it first appeared on the scene. It took years to perfect, but now it is my best friend.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Funny you should ask....I was Editor-in-Chief of "The Broadcaster" for several years at my high school in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
That's a tough question, as I am proud of all my travel articles-two highlights: a walk through Old Japan and a bucket list Galapagos cruise
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Aspire to perfection. Take pride in every word and photo you post. Proofread! Take your time and produce quality content.
When's the best time to pitch you?
I'm your 24/7 kind of gal, so anytime is fine via email. I don't answer phone pitches, fyi.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
Two pitches came in the same day which brought us to Europe for a 25-day combined press tour that resulted in incredible coverage.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
An invitation to take part in a clothing optional cruise on the high seas
What's your favorite drink?
We cover wine destinations, so, naturally, VINO.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
A true travel journalist never writes about a destination that he/she hasn't personally experienced. Please direct your pitches accordingly.
