Jersey Fresh blues are healthy goals!
Jersey Fresh blues are healthy goals! By Joe Atchison III June 5, 2026 New Jersey had a very interesting winter and spring. We had 90 degree days early and then again in April followed by two nights of below freezing temperatures. A few fruit crops were lost entirely to this freeze while others were impacted to a lesser degree. The great news is, New Jersey blueberry producers expect a robust crop of top-quality berries for this year.
Jersey Fresh blueberries are ripe and ready
New Jersey had a great winter and spring to give our blueberry growers the perfect conditions needed to harvest a full crop of the bigger, better, more flavorful berries your customers crave. Jersey Fresh blueberries will be ready for your shelves from early June into early August, and your customers look for blueberries from the Garden State all year long because they know Jersey Fresh blueberries will provide the flavor and size they desire.
New Jersey is the place for peaches in 2023
New Jersey peach and nectarine growers are expecting unusually high demand for their fruit this season after weather affected other growing regions. The New Jersey Department of Agriculture is poised to help growers and retailers get the word out that Jersey Fresh peaches are in-season. The NJDA continues to work alongside the New Jersey Peach Promotion Council to drive consumer demand.
Grown right in the Garden State
New Jersey is known as the Garden State — and for good reason. Our farmers produce over 100 varieties of fruits and vegetables and rank in the Top 10 in production of many including eggplant, squash, peppers, blueberries, cranberries, asparagus… the list goes on.
Jersey Fresh peaches are ripe for the picking
New Jersey peach growers are poised to provide you with a good crop of sweet, full-sized peaches in 2022, and the New Jersey Department of Agriculture is positioned to help growers and retailers get the word out that Jersey Fresh peaches are in season. The NJDA will once again be working alongside the New Jersey Peach Promotion Council to drive consumer demand.
Local is the word in New Jersey
In January of 2022, the New Jersey legislature did what few states have done, passing a law defining what local means regarding New Jersey fruits and vegetables. In the Garden State, if a retailer labels fresh produce as local, locally grown or implies that it is local using similar language, that product must have been grown in New Jersey. New Jersey consumers can now shop for produce and when they see local, they will know where it was grown.
