Joe Curley, Ventura County Star Updated Fri, June 12, 2026 at 11:55 PM UTC Westlake High School celebrated its 46th graduating class June 11 in an on-campus ceremony at Warrior Stadium in Thousand Oaks. A senior class of 435 students — 44% of which with a weighted GPA of 4.0 or higher — walked across the stage to receive their diplomas. The class included 53 students who earned valedictorian recognition with a 4.65 or higher indexed GPA.

Life seems to accelerate like one of Bob Hawking’s Simi Valley High boys basketball teams on a fast break. So make sure to take advantage of the trip up and back. That was the message to the assembled student-athletes as Hawking, who coached the highest scoring boys basketball team in Ventura County history in 1987-88, closed his induction speech during the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame’s annual induction dinner on Sunday, June 7, at the Serra Center in Camarillo.
