Xander Schauffele Wins Genesis Scottish Open
It certainly appears that Xander Schauffele has re-discovered how to win in professional golf. After a two-year winless drought, the 28-year-old captured his third victory in his last seven tour starts, winning the Genesis Scottish Open by two strokes over Kurt Kitayama. It was the seventh victory of Schauffele’s PGA Tour career. Held at Scotland’s Renaissance Club, this was the first year that the PGA Tour co-sanctioned the DP World Tour event.

For the past week, the golf world has been largely focused on the rift between the PGA Tour and Greg Norman‘s upstart LIV Golf Tour, with a number of prominent players resigning from the former in favor of the guaranteed money offered by the latter. On Sunday, Rory McIlroy reminded the world that the best players still make their living on the long-running PGA Tour, shooting a stellar 8-under 62 to win the RBC Canadian Open by two strokes over Tony Finau.

It ended up not mattering for Max Homa. Despite brutal conditions for much of the week, the 2019 Wells Fargo champion came out front again, reaching 8 under for the week to win by two strokes over Matt Fitzpatrick, Cameron Young and Keegan Bradley.

A week removed from their annual dabble with team golf, the PGA Tour moves further south this week, from New Orleans to Vidanta Vallarta in Mexico, for the Mexico Open at Vidanta. A new event as far as the PGA Tour is concerned, a relatively weak field feels like another week in the post-Masters lull, but an unfamiliar course brings about a fun equalizer as players get themselves in position for a run in the future amp-up. As expected, the Mexico natives will get the most fanfare this week.
