Jazzlyn “Jeremy” Morris
Jazzlyn “Jeremy” Morris, 49, of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at UPMC Jamestown. She was born on Feb. 4, 1977, in Corry, Pa., a daughter of Brian Morris of Spartansburg, Pa., and Charlene (Shearer) Howles of Corry. Jazzlyn was raised and educated in Spartansburg and graduated from Corry Area High School in 1995. She worked many jobs over the years in the local area. She enjoyed poetry and music and was a fantastic artist.
Corry girls soccer tournament update
Due to the poor air quality and potential for severe weather in the area today, the planned Corry varsity girls soccer tournament with Erie, Iroquois and Maplewood at Sheen Field will not go ahead as scheduled. It has not been decided if it will be rescheduled at this time. More information will be provided at a later date.
Corry all-stars softball season comes to an end
Corry major girls all-stars softball saw its tournament run come to an end against Dubois Thursday evening in Columbus. It was a tight game throughout, but a pair of Dubois runs in the seventh inning put Corry in a late hole they couldn’t dig out of. Corry fell 5-3. “Today’s game was a deja vu of yesterday,” Corry all-stars head coach Karalee Kemp said. “They let the pressure get to them.” Corry’s Ellie Harvey dives for a ball to get an out.
Herbert L. Austin, 86
Herbert L. Austin, 86, of Corry, Pa., passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at his residence. He was born on June 13, 1940, in Bell Run, Pa., a son of the late Horace and Ruby (Confer) Austin. Herbert was raised and educated in Shinglehouse, Pa., and graduated from Oswayo Valley High School in 1959. After high school, he worked for various machine shops and was a self-taught tool and die maker. He also owned a dairy farm for many years in his lifetime.
Corry’s Climax locomotive legacy still resonates in resort community
Some 235 miles east of Corry, atop a peak in Pennsylvania’s Endless Mountain region, an unexpected homage can be found to one of Corry’s most enduring historical legacies. Of the more than 1,000 Climax locomotives manufactured in Corry between 1888 and 1928, only 19 are known to survive.

UNION CITY — For more than 50 years, the ringing of a bell in Eleanor Geer's backyard could be heard throughout Lincolnville — welcoming new years, calling her granddaughter home to supper and once, memorably, driving Eleanor herself to distraction thanks to two men and a length of fishing line. Eleanor Geer, pictured here in the 1990s, kept the bell in her backyard for decades.
New advanced wound care clinic open at Corry Memorial Hospital
A new advanced wound care clinic has opened at the Corry Memorial Hospital. The new clinic gives residents of Corry and the surrounding area access to treatments for chronic and non-healing wounds that previously would have required travel to Erie to receive treatment for.
Wayne Township talks collaboration with neighboring townships
Several points of municipal cooperation were discussed at the Wayne Township meeting on Monday. With the establishment of the West County EMS Service, townships in Eastern Erie County have proposed an East County EMS Resolution. The proposal is a consolidation of emergency services between areas that include but are not limited to Wayne Township, Concord Township, Mill Village, Union Township, Wattsburg, Amity, among others that have yet to be determined.
Moose Club to host Saturday’s Corry 160th Anniversary concert
MDG Productions and Channel 98.9 FM will host a concert marking Corry’s 160th Anniversary on Saturday The concert was originally slated to take place at the Relevant Church, at 100 W. South St. The venue will now be held at the Corry Moose Club, 332 E.
