Trahan Park, at Ridge Avenue and Monroe Street, is one of the not-so-hidden gems in town and is in full bloom. An oasis right off one of Evanston’s busiest thoroughfares, the park invites anyone passing by to stay a while and enjoy the garden’s splendor. Since 2015, Rick Mihevc, who lives with his wife next to the park, has been transforming this corner of Evanston in partnership with the city. Click on any of the images below to view them larger.

Harbert-Payne Park provided the perfect setting for the city’s latest free Starlight Concert featuring the soulful, indie-folk sound of Max Subar on a temperate summer Tuesday evening. As usual, food and refreshments were available from food trucks. Kids played games while parents got to sit back and relax. Check out more scenes from Subar’s performance below.
