LESTERVILLE, Mo. – Widespread flash flooding slammed several southeast Missouri communities after historic rainfall Thursday evening into Friday morning, more than a foot of rain overnight in some spots. The flooding created dangerous conditions across towns, campgrounds and popular outdoor destinations, particularly in Iron and Reynolds counties. According to National Weather Service rainfall data reviewed by FOX 2, the flooding is considered to be a 1-in-1,000-year weather event.

Woman dies after being swept away by floodwaters in Missouri

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Mo. – One woman has died after being swept away by floodwaters in Crawford County, authorities and family members tell FOX 2. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as Faith Gregory. Family members have also confirmed her identity. Gregory was located Saturday nearly 2 miles downstream from her home near Huzzah Creek, according to the sheriff’s office.
