Just days before the new law was set to go into effect on July 1, Lancaster County Circuit Court Judge John S. Martin on Thursday, June 25, sided with guns rights groups and Loudon County resident John Crump, barring Virginia State Police from enforcing an assault weapons ban.

“Northern Neck 250,” a film depicting local events during the American Revolution, will be shown at 7 p.m. June 17 and 22 at Compass Cinema Six, 100 Entertainment Drive, Irvington. The film was produced by 26th Street Media in association with Kilmarnock Museum and the Northumberland County Historical Society. It brings to life pre-Revolution era life in the Northern Neck, especially Northumberland and Lancaster counties, said Kilmarnock Museum president Carroll Lee Ashburn.

Three local couples, visiting California for a wedding in November 2025, made an appearance on The Price is Right game show. The show, featuring, from left, Marvin and Andrea Renee Johnson of Kinsale, Tracey and Keith Parker of Heathsville and Lenore and Charles Parker Jr. of Fredericksburg, will air at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, on CBS. The Parkers invite the community to attend a watch party also at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Zion Church in Lottsburg.
