Local organizations addressing addiction and overdose will be able to support more vulnerable residents with $1.9 million from Health Canada. The one-year funding boost from Health Canada’s Emergency Treatment Fund will support the work of five partners to tackle urgent needs in the community: Sanguen Health Centre, The Working Centre, Thrive HIV, Crow Shield Lodge and Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington.

Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge celebrated the grand opening of an expansion that added 108 new long-term-care beds and upgraded 84 existing spaces — more than doubling the size of the home. “Today marks an incredible, historic milestone for Fairview with the official opening of the Ed and Karen Nowak Long-Term Care home,” said Elaine Shantz, president and chief executive officer of Fairview Mennonite Homes.
