New Horsforth Town Council wards plan to be debated
By John Baron City councillors will next week debate proposals to create an additional two electoral wards for Horsforth Town Council. All 98 councillors are due to attend a full meeting of Leeds City Council on Wednesday, 9 September at Leeds Civic Hall – and included on the agenda is a community governance review of Horsforth Town Council.
Demolition application could help unlock McDonald’s Stanningley development
By John Baron Plans to demolish the former Infinity Metals office building in Stanningley have been submitted to Leeds City Council. The demolition would help unlock the redevelopment of the western part of the site, which last year received approval to become a McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant. McDonald’s submitted revised plans for the restaurant in April, which included changes to the car park layout and the boundaries of the site. Those proposals are currently being considered by the council.
Bid to tackle parking risks at Leeds high rise flats
By John Baron Council chiefs are clamping down on inconsiderate and dangerous parking at high rise council flats in Leeds. They are set to introduce double yellow lines and other measures in car parks at 24 high rise flats across the city, including in Armley, Kirkstall and New Wortley. The scheme would see Parking Permit Orders (PPO) and Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO) to enable emergency vehicles and bin crew to safely access without obstruction.
