Marcel Reed Last 4 P4 Games
The Marcel Reed PTSD is real. Baker's defenses have given up 10 touchdowns and a field goal to the Marcel Reed led offense, while only getting 4 stops. With that said, Marcel Reed is broken right now, and the stats below prove that. No excuse for Baker to allow Reed to steamroll us again this week. @ Texas (11/28/2025) 20/32 (62.5%) 180 Yards 0 TD 2 INTs 1 Sack for -1 Yard 11 Carries for 72 Yards vs.
Why do leaves change colour at this time of year?

For plants to grow, they need sunlight, nutrients and water.

Art of Lent
I love words, but they’re not my first language. Before we know one word, we know the world through instincts and emotions, memories and urges. We wince at sour, we giggle in the bath. Our first language is human experience. As preachers, we always begin with the Word of Scripture. Thankfully it’s been translated into our spoken languages.
Lenten Preaching from an Outsider’s Perspective
Author’s disclaimer: Mine is a baptistic tradition that does not observe the Lenten season. Admittedly, I view its traditions and rituals as one peering through a dusty window. Sometimes, though, I find that an outsider’s perspective is helpful, drawing attention to things that insiders take for granted and otherwise overlook. For that reason, I offer the following observations in the hope that they may serve as the basis for a sermon or series this holy season.
How to Breathe in the Season of Lent
20,000 times. That is the number of breaths the average human draws each day. Inhale, exhale, repeat. Incredible! Just beneath our awareness level life happens inside us all day long. What does that have to do with Lent? Something, I think. Have you ever heard of “alveoli”? Alveoli are tiny sacks on the surface of your lungs to absorb the oxygen you inhale. You have 600 million of these little guys—like catcher’s mitts—trapping O2 and on its way to your blood stream.
Three Practices for Promoting the Power of Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday is one of those awkward “holy days” in the Christian calendar. Growing up in Sunday school, I recall reaching for the prickly palm branches with elongated, green, skinny leaves awaiting us in the children’s sanctuary on Palm Sunday morning. Some mischievous kids would poke and prod each other with them in the stomach or back (and thankfully not in the eyes). Others would proudly wave them around like a school or favorite sports team banner or shake them vigorously like a pom-pom.
Preaching on Jesus' Triumphal Entry
All four of the New Testament’s Gospels recount Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Matt. 21:1-11; Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19:28-40; John 12:12-19). The details recorded in each account, and the events surrounding them, differ based on their respective writer’s pastoral and theological concerns. In these details and immediate contexts, the preacher finds insight on how to proclaim each text in a way that respects that author’s intent.
Letters to the Editor (8-11-22)
Alchemists had the same problem Dear editor: The same DNA that defines a person, victim, or criminal in court has its first origin in the first cell of an individual person. Alchemists could not tell when lead became gold. Those who support abortion cannot tell when a non-human becomes a human: At six weeks when a heartbeat is heard, the second trimester, 15 weeks, 20 weeks, viability outside the womb at partial birth, at full birth.
Ten Angles for Preaching on Christ's Death
Ten Angles for Preaching on Christ's Death Ten ideas to keep your Good Friday sermons fresh and engaging. The Gospels are Passion narratives with a long introduction. Someone somewhere wrote that. One-third of the synoptics and one-half of John are devoted to the last week of Jesus' recorded ministry. Consider how odd that proportion would be if a biography of Theodore Roosevelt or Florence Nightingale were devoted to the final week of their lives.
‘Study it. Believe it. And Live it.’
Ben Kwashi has faced death more times than anyone I know. I’m referring to Archbishop Benjamin Kwashi, a key Christian leader from Jos, Nigeria, a belt of land known for Islamic extremist attacks against small mostly Christian villages and churches. The Wall Street Journal recently reported, “A slow-motion war is under way in Africa’s most populous country. It’s a massacre of Christians, massive in scale and horrific in brutality.

Holiday Sermons that Are Evangelistic and Expository
How crucicentric and conversionistic should an expository sermon be, especially around the holidays when churches welcome more guests into their pews than any other time of the year? In view of Paul’s command to “do the work of an evangelist” (2 Tim. 4:5), are we expository preachers guilty of a dereliction of duty if, in our attempt to honor a biblical text’s authorial intention, our sermon doesn’t speak explicitly of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection and call for sinners to be saved?

Healthy Preachers in a Horrific Pandemic
Healthy Preachers in a Horrific Pandemic The importance of sleep, hobbies, exercise, and devotions in the life of the preacher. Last I checked, the Coronavirus has taken the lives of nearly 650,00 people, including more than 149,000 Americans. Grief and fear naturally result from such devastation. Pastors are expected to bring peace and hope into the chaos, even while they battle their own anxiety and fatigue. Perhaps now more than ever, the health of the minister matters.

COVID-19 and Preaching Jesus’ Resurrection
I’m writing this a day after the United States recorded over 213,000 cases of COVID-19. Nobody can tell us how this disease will progress or diminish. But the major media outlets are blaring the following headlines: -Without Urgent Action, Coronavirus Could Overwhelm U.S., Estimates Say -Global Corona Virus Cases Top One Million As Economic Toll Mounts -‘Chilling’ Plans: Who Gets Care as Washington State Hospitals Fill Up?
Why and How to Preach about St. Patrick this St. Patrick’s Day
The life of St. Patrick connects to issues we struggle with today. The pub nearest me has festooned itself with green, orange, and white bunting. My doctor’s waiting room is plastered with cardboard shamrocks that say LUCKY. McDonald’s has brought back (for a limited time) its Shamrock Shake. Yes, my friends, it’s almost St. Patrick’s Day, and since this year [2019] it falls on a Sunday, we might consider, “Should we preach about the saint, and if so, how?” Why preach on St. Patrick?
