Market Intersection: A Quarterly Look at the U.S. Credit Markets 1Q23 | JD Supra
General market unease in the first fiscal quarter of 2023 was evident. Uncertainty in investor confidence resulted in lower new money deal flow and the tightening of terms across both new and existing credits. However, in the few trophy credits to hit the market, the competitive auction saw widespread participation across the direct lending market.

Bitcoin, in particular, is trading at or near all time highs, considerably above its previous peak at the end of 2017. Other cryptocurrencies, like Ether, have also had considerable returns this year. Taxpayers holding significantly appreciated cryptocurrency may be considering the best way to optimize their charitable giving.

What Keeps Us Trying?
Those of us who know that the world is heading for manifold disasters are having to adjust to the fact that the most powerful nation in the world, ours, has elected a president who announces that supposed climate-related problems are figments of our imaginations. The better-read among them will think that even if there are problems, technological solutions will take care of them.
