Tallahassee, FL - Major Mark Welch of the Florida Highway Patrol is retiring following the controversy over his ticket quota e-mail. Welch commanded Troop "H" in the panhandle including Liberty and Franklin Counties. He sent an email to troopers requesting "two citations each hour." Welch submitted a one line resignation letter stating he would step down on September 5th. Attorney General Pam Bondi today said she was troubled by Welch's directive, which she called a stupid statement.

Youngstown, FL -  A Youngstown man is in jail after burying $15,000 worth of gold and silver in his yard, then reporting it missing. Tyson Davis made a complaint to the Bay County Sheriff's Office last week saying his order of precious metals never arrived. Sheriff's investigators contacted Fed-Ex who verified they delivered the package to the correct address and Davis himself signed for it. During questioning, Davis admitted he buried the gold and silver in his backyard.
