Book Review: One Less God Than You By John DeRosa
I discovered John DeRosa while watching Joe Heschmeyer’s debate debrief after his discussion with Dr. James White. Joe recommended John’s Classical Theism Podcast, which eventually led me to DeRosa’s book, One Less God Than You: How to Answer the Slogans, Clichés, and Fallacies That Atheists Use to Challenge Your Faith (Catholic Answers, 2020). After reading it, I decided to write a review and highlight some popular atheist arguments DeRosa addresses.
7 Sales Training Basics Beginners MUST Master
I was once asked if I had a 100-level, "basic” sales training program. I struggled with the idea because there’s different levels of basic, right? There's the real basic, like how you look somebody in the eye when you shake their hand, but that's not what this person was looking for. They wanted basic training that speaks to what the salesperson does when they get in front of their prospects.

Ep. #236 - What is Classical Theism? w/ Dr. Edward Feser
Summary What is classical theism? What makes it distinct from theism in general? How should we answer common charges that classical theism makes God cold, distant, and unloving? Is there accuracy to the charge that classical theism is based purely on Greek philosophy as opposed to Scripture? What should we make of the confusion over terminology, specifically regarding “theistic personalism”, “neo-classical theism”, “process theism”, and other labels? Dr. Edward Feser joins us to discuss these topics.
The Word Set in Stone by Dave Armstrong
by · Published July 13, 2023 · Updated Summary In his new book The Word Set in Stone, Catholic apologist Dave Armstrong defends the reliability of the Bible. He contends that Archaeology, Science, and History back up the veracity of Sacred Scripture. The book takes readers on an adventure with examples from Genesis, Exodus, and other Old Testament books as well as findings relevant to the Gospels. The work serves as an antidote to the steady diet of objections frequently posed by Bible critics.
What Makes a Roofing Contractor Successful?
A few years ago, I was on a popular electronics store’s website trying to decide which Blu-ray DVD player to buy. Its website allowed me to select up to five different models and compare them side-by-side. At the top of the list was the price of each product with all the features and specifications listed beneath.

Dr. Matthew Barrett joins us to discuss topics in his recent book Simply Trinity: The Unmanipulated Father, Son, and Spirit.
IRE 2021 Session Preview: Mastering the Fundamentals of the Sales Process
When I do sales training, it’s not uncommon to find that the majority of salespeople are looking for me to give them a silver-tongued response to help them overcome their most common sales objections. Whether it be price objections, think-about objections, or the “shop-around” objections — these are the road blocks that ultimately get in the way of contractors closing the deal.

Redefining 'Business as Usual': Five Post COVID-19 Facts Roofing Contractors Can't Ignore
As we continue to hear more about the potential for a COVID-19 vaccine and therapeutics, I trust many of you are celebrating the idea of us getting back to “business as usual.” Whether you’re a canvasser looking forward to knocking doors, or a salesperson who yearns to meet the prospect at their kitchen table, I can appreciate your desire for a small degree or normalcy.
The Problem of Animal Suffering
At the outset, we must distinguish logical versions of the problem of evil from evidential versions. Logical versions aim to show that evil makes it impossible for God to exist, whereas evidential versions use evil as evidence that God doesn’t exist. The latter make God’s existence unlikely, or less likely, but not impossible. Arguments from animal suffering are evidential. Furthermore, we note that the Magisterium does not require a particular position.
Is the Biblical God a Maniac?
No, you are that’s right yeah. It wouldn’t exist. Well, we shouldn’t worship him. John: Oh, God at all, or perhaps this God of the Bible, because what I want to get at next is your claim is that the God of the Bible is an evil maniac because of these atrocities in particular, the command to Joshua’s army to wipe out the Canaanites, which we’ll talk about. But suppose that there’s just a difficulty here that causes Christians to revise their view of inspiration, or how we view the old Testament.
So What if Religion is for the Weak?
Well, I’ll just start by saying people don’t usually make all of them at once, but it’s [crosstalk 00:03:30] Cy: Or in German. John: Yeah. Or in German. So it’s a little unexpected to handle it in that manner. Cy: Okay. John: But I would try to parcel it out a bit, because I lumped them all together because of a particular theme that we’re going to talk about. So the theme is important. They all have one thing in common. And perhaps I’ll leave that open a little bit to try and figure that out.
Does the Bible Support Slavery?
Skip to main content Accessibility feedback How to answer this common question from aggressive skeptics The triumvirate of complaints about the Bible from atheists typically consists of denouncing its science, denouncing its God, and denouncing its morality. Here we’ll handle a classic moral objection: the Bible is an evil book because it supports slavery (thus disproving Christianity and theism by implication).
One Less God Than You
“The God of the Bible is a bloodthirsty dictator.” “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” “Religion is the cause of war, suffering, and intolerance.” “Do you believe in Santa Claus, too?” (Etc.) If you have spent any time on Twitter, in a college quad, or at the dinner table with a freshman philosophy major, you’re probably familiar with the litany of slogans that religious skeptics employ in an attempt to rescue you from the foolish belief that God exists.
Does the Trinity Entail Simplicity? w/ Tomaszewski on Apple Podcasts
What is the logical problem of the Trinity? Does divine simplicity create an additional problem for Trinitarianism? Some have argued that far from creating an extra problem, divine simplicity is actually entailed by the orthodox doctrine of the Trinity. Christopher Tomaszewski joins us to present an argument to that effect. We discuss his argument and several related issues. The Classical Theism Podcast aims to defend Catholic Christian ideas in conversation.
Wargaming Contested Narratives in an Age of Bewilderment
By Arnel P. David & John DeRosa January 16, 2020 In his latest book, 21 Lessons for the 21st Century, Yuval Harari warns of a world where old stories have collapsed and new ones have yet to take their place. He describes an Age of Bewilderment and argues persuasively that societies are in the throes of an increasingly connected, crowded, and confused world where people no longer know what to believe. While this might be true in many places, Harari should make a trip to the Baltics.

Simplicity is Not the Point
Spoiler alert! Dan Ward revealed to me a fundamental point of his recently published second book "I caught up with Dan early on a Saturday morning. We both were trying to get work done before the rest of our families were up and about. It is a writing ritual we both share. Before the interview, I asked him about a tweet he posted. I was curious about his contrast of simplicity and complexity because of how simplicity applies to narratives in conflict.
Swoopers and Bashers
[John DeRosa] What time do you typically wake up? Do you really do more before 9 am than most people do all day? [Crispin Burke] I wake up at 5:00 am on weekdays, and about 6:30 am on weekends. I start with a nutty caramel-flavored Keurig cup, spiked with cream and whipped cream on top — sort of the poor man’s bulletproof coffee. I’ll probably down two small cups in the first hour of my day.
