You’ll hear it before you see it. Just outside the mountain town of Ouray, in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, Canyon Creek narrows and drops into a slot of rock so tight it traps the sound inside. Thousands of gallons rush through every minute, and the roar reaches the parking area before the water ever comes into view. The park covers only a few acres, but the canyon inside makes the whole place feel much bigger than its size suggests.
