Mountain Fever Records has released a second single from Hammaville, an up-and-coming group hailing from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, in advance of their debut album to be released later this year. Needed You, penned by Gabriel Scott, is pensive and sorrowful as it traces the singer’s realization that the woman he loves is gone. Lead vocalist Daniel Seabolt nicely captures the narrator’s pain and confusion through lyrics like “No number, no regrets, no way for me to reach you.

Friends and fans of the Stanley sound celebrated in a big way at the Dr. Ralph Stanley Hills of Home Festival this past Memorial Day weekend. The four day event, which took place from Wednesday, May 20th through Saturday, May 23rd, hosted over 20 bands. The 55th annual celebration was quite a success. Fans of the Clinch Mountain sound traveled from all over the United States to attend the festival. I saw license plates from all over the United States – Florida, Ohio, Georgia, Michigan, and more.

The Owensboro Art Guild in Owensboro, KY, will host its second annual Bluegrass Music Exhibit June 7-28, in the lobby of the Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Owensboro/Waterfront. The exhibit, which is planned to coincide with the popular ROMP Festival, will feature a variety of artistic interpretations of bluegrass music, including painting, sculptures, photography, and more. Last year’s inaugural event proved extremely popular, with some artists even finding buyers for their work.
