Regardless of the strife and turmoil we face, I hope we can pause and be grateful we are Americans. Network news has become so biased today, but when we look back, we can see we have always had strife. Fortunately, our Founding Fathers had the foresight to develop a Constitution that could let free speech endure.

(Editor’s note: John Hall is a professional commodities analyst.) Lots of storms across the country last week. I wish we had gotten more rain on Delmarva. I spoke with an organic grower here who was plowing. He said the plow would not go into the ground in some areas. I also saw irrigation going in some parts of the county. A friend, Steve Majchrzak, traveled to the Midwest last week and into Missouri and Kansas. I called him for a crop report.

Over the years I have tried to encouraged growers to develop a budget and make some sales or set some floors when the market gets to a positive price point or at least break-even. However, I have found most growers are overly optimistic about price and equally pessimistic about negative price movements.
