1 INTRODUCTION The demand for body contouring and fat reduction procedures is increasing markedly, a trend which is driven by many factors, such as the growing global emphasis on physical appearance and the surging prevalence of obesity.1 In concert with this developing demand, innovation over the past two decades has improved gold-standard procedures, such as liposuction, while also opening frontiers for newer and now highly popular energy-based and injectable fat-reduction techniques.

1 INTRODUCTION Consumers in the United States are concerned about the appearance of excess fat. The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) 2021 Consumer Survey on Cosmetic Dermatologic Procedures indicated that nearly 70% of responders were considering a cosmetic procedure, with 47% of responders reported as considering body sculpting procedures.
