PSKY-WBD Deal Closes
Paramount Skydance closed its $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on Tuesday after months of a will-they-won’t-they courtship and regulatory hurdles, including a settlement with state attorneys general who attempted to block the merger on antitrust grounds. The combined company is simply called Skydance, with the Paramount and Warner Bros. brands operating as separate brands under its umbrella.

Paramount-Warner Bros. Is Now Skydance
Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison made his X debut Friday morning to announce the name of the combined PSKY-Warner Bros. Discovery. Alas, it’s the end of the “WarnerMount” and “ParaBros” monikers. The exec originally founded Skydance Media in 2006, merging it with Paramount Global in 2025 to form Paramount Skydance.
On SCTE’s Show Floor
It’s hard not to be mesmerized at Charter’s booth by the cool robot and a VR experience that puts you courtside at an NBA game, but for Steve Miller, the coolest thing in the display is the connected amplifiers. “It shows we can talk to five, seven vendors represented on that board that all interop and all do the same things and drive that capability for us to pinpoint,” the SVP, Network Engineering and Technology said during a Q&A at the annual SCTE Bob Gold & Paul Schneider Media Dinner.

PSKY-WBD’s Bigger Slice of the Viewership Pie
With Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery expected to close in the coming days, MoffettNathanson is feeling good about the combo. The firm believes it should lead to a “more formidable competitor,” especially for streaming, since each company is currently “subscale.” The firm did a breakdown of what a combined PSKY and WBD would have meant in measured viewership in the first half of the year, estimating it would account for 13% of total U.S. TV viewership by distributor, tying with YouTube.

Calculating Charter-Cox Synergies
Charter–Cox initially gave guidance of $500 million in Cox synergies, updating it to $1 billion last week. But to New Street Research, the figure is still a little light. Schulman: Verizon Won’t Repeat Price-Hike ‘Disaster’
New (if you can still call him that) Verizon CEO Dan Schulman said one of his first moves atop the company was blocking another price increase. His argument was—and remains—that repeated rate hikes without added value had driven churn higher for three consecutive years. “They wanted to do another price increase as soon as I came in. I said, ‘No. Stop that, because it’s a short-term win,’” he said at Wednesday’s Goldman Sachs conference.
