We have a privilege as people. We can choose to be there for one another. In my career, I have been called unkind names and referred to with negative adjectives. I have been called soft, weak, silly, along with some additional disparaging and discriminatory terms (not often, to be fair, but these were usually from a colleague in senior leadership).

Pop open LinkedIn and you will see a variety of changes - jobs, industries, career direction, entrepreneurship. We reinvent and redeploy regularly. It’s what we do. We figure out what’s working and what motivates us, and we move towards those changes. Sometimes the change is out of necessity and sometimes out of opportunity. These seasons can be quite liberating. We feel the exhilaration of a new chapter. There is something life-giving in these seasons.

We seem to vacillate between period piece and modern day dramas. From Shogun and the Winds of War to Dallas and Dynasty. From 90210 to 1923. From Downtown Abbey to the latest, Landman. What is our issue? We have a desire for the drama. I know you don’t like hearing that. After all, you post things on Facebook like “Save the Drama for Your Mama” or “I Ain’t Paid Enough to Listen to Your Junk. Keep it.” That should mean we don’t want to engage with the angst or the gossip. We don’t want it, right?
