Sweet Judy Blue Eyes | Music Feature | Tucson Weekly
At 78, Colorado folk icon Judy Collins is more spry, vibrant and generally full of life than many people, musicians or not, that are a fraction of her age. Never less than prolific throughout her career, the last three years have seen her particularly forthcoming with the output. More importantly, everything she puts her name on is worth listening to. Strangers Again was released in 2015, followed by Silver Skies Blue, her album with singer/songwriter Ari Hest, of the Bronx, last year.
Raptor's Spirit | Music Feature | Tucson Weekly
Singer/guitarist Jesse Hughes, the brash, bad-boy singer of Eagles of Death Metal, has a simple motto: "Stay horny, keep it light, never let the bad guys win." It's fitting for a musician who came out of one of the most chilling attacks of terrorism, shaking his hips just that much harder. The band has been on the road almost consistently the past year, rocking crowds with their celebratory, boogie-down anthems. They have a stop in Tucson coming up on Oct. 18.

As the night deepens, Trash begins stripping, removing his prosthetic arm with the hook, snapping it like a whip onto the stage buckling beneath him like a homicidal horse.

Expressionist painter Richard Zelens has been showing his colorful works in many galleries of late. He had a lovely sky-and-mountain piece in the Day for Night show up at Tohono Chul this past winter and he’s turned into a regular at Raices Taller and Contreras. In fact, right now he’s working on several small pieces for Tropical Heat Wave, the August show at Contreras.
Review: Danny Lyon—Present Future, the Silverman Museum Collection | The Range: The Tucson Weekly's Daily Dispatch
A black-and-white New York City skyline that's receded from the vantage of a helicopter. Once the city resembled something one could hold in a fist, the photograph is snapped. It’s 1966. Yet the photo vibrates for contemporary eyes as contemporary thru its darkness.
