Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No, I haven't used a physical typewriter. Being part of the digital publishing generation, I started straight with computers and smartphones to manage platforms like Bos TV.

How is social media changing news?

Social media has decentralized the news, allowing grassroots communities and local organizations to share their stories in real-time. While it accelerates public information delivery and fosters instant civic engagement, it also demands higher accountability from digital publishers to counter misinformation and maintain editorial integrity.

Who do you wish followed you?

I wish to be followed by fellow digital publishers, community journalists, and civic leaders who are passionate about regional storytelling in the Philippines. Connecting with academic researchers who study grassroots organizational development would also bring great collaborative value.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I am most proud of researching and publishing my work on the history and administrative framework of National Fraternity Day PH. Through this project and my platform, Bos TV, I focus on advocating for peaceful inter-fraternity partnerships and promoting strict compliance with the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018 (RA 11053) to foster positive civic engagement among youth organizations in the Philippines.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Never stop documenting the stories that matter to your local community. Utilize modern digital platforms to amplify important movements, stay persistent in researching your topics thoroughly, and always treat your sources and audience with the utmost transparency and respect.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Mornings from Tuesday to Thursday are ideal. I prefer well-researched pitches sent via email that directly align with our core content areas at Bos TV, such as community news, grassroots movements, and civic organization updates.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

The best pitches I receive are always those that focus on grassroots community stories, local innovations, or successful youth leadership programs. When a pitch includes clear data, verified sources, and a direct positive impact on regional civic engagement, it instantly catches my attention for Bos TV.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

People often think that fraternal history and community journalism are shallow beats. The misconception is that it lacks depth, but documenting grassroots movements and institutional changes actually reveals how deeply local organizations influence civic engagement and regional unity in the Philippines.
