Pathophysiological mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) activation plays a key role progression of end‐organ damage observed in cardio‐renal diseases such as metabolic syndrome. While steroidal MR antagonists improve cardiac dysfunction, it is unknown whether finerenone, a non‐steroidal MR antagonist, opposes metabolic syndrome related end‐organ, i.e. cardiac, damage.
