News On Friday, April 24, shots rang out over Jackson Square, a mall and office complex in downtown Hamilton, Ontario, as an altercation between three teenagers turned deadly. Within minutes, mall security issued an announcement over the loudspeakers encouraging people to take shelter inside stores. Hamilton Police said they responded to the call around 5:10 p.m., where they found 16-year-old Nabil Askafe in critical condition.

Trekking there, too, was our Alberta reporter, Stephen Magusiak. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to stay for long. Before the rally even started — and just after he interviewed one of the organizers — Stephen was unceremoniously removed.
