Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. I loved it. One of my mom's friends had a vintage one that I used to play with. I definitely will invest in one later on.

How is social media changing news?

Everything is in realtime and dynamic. You do not have to wait to learn, you just have to engage with the community.

It means to tell the right story to the world at the right time.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

I prefer to be contacted by email. If that is not possible, or it is too time sensitive to wait fora response, than a message on Twitter.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

ManicTime, RescueTime, Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive, Buffer, Tweetdeck, Wordpress, Feedly, Flipboard, Zotero, Skitch, Pinterest, Pocket,

What's your favorite social network?

Its a tie between Pinterest & Twitter. I enjoy the curation of the former, and the connection of the latter.

Who do you wish followed you?

Sanaa Lathaan. I have the biggest crush on her from Love & Basketball.

Why did you become a journalist?

Important stories need conscientious writers who pursue the truth from multiple angles.

Not at all.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My first ever published story, which ran in USA Today College. I did not actually think it would run.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Be so good they can't ignore you. Cultivate skills and understand that it takes time. Malcolm Gladwell took 10 years to get noticed.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Early to late evening.
