Most people think a catcher’s job is simple — catch the ball, throw it back, maybe make a play or two. But anyone who’s spent time behind the plate knows it’s way more than that. Being a catcher is like being the quarterback of the diamond. You see the whole field, call the game, manage the tempo, and — most importantly — build a relationship with the pitcher. As someone who’s caught for years, I’ve worked with all types of pitchers. Some are high-energy fireballs, others are calm and calculated.
