Dublin stylist Courtney Smith says she regrets throwing out clothes from her teenage years in the late ‘90s as they’re all back in fashion now. The creative director said vintage style is currently popular, boosted by the move towards slow fashion. “I was in a vintage shop in the city centre and it had Y2K stuff and I thought, why didn’t I hang onto all my pieces from when I was like 18 because they’re back in fashion,” she said.

AIB share sell down to recoup as much as €2bn this year

The taxpayer is on track to recoup as much as €2bn from AIB this year as the Government accelerates the sell-down of its stake in the bank it nationalised 12 years ago. Wednesday’s confirmation that the Department of Finance had successfully placed 5pc of AIB’s stock with institutional investors was just the latest step in a steady march towards privatisation.

State’s holding in AIB to fall below 50pc for first since it was bailed out

The State is set to cut its stake in AIB to below 50pc for the first time in 12 years tomorrow after completing a large placing of Government-owned shares in the market. The deal will see the Department of Finance dispose of approximately 5pc of the bank’s stock, yielding the taxpayer roughly €500m in proceeds. As a result of the placing, the overall size of the State’s holding in AIB Group will fall from approximately 51.9pc to approximately 46.9pc.
