Development and characterization of non-malignant human hepatocyte lines with retained hepatic functional identity for in vitro applications
Abstract Advances in liver metabolism research are constrained by the lack of stable non-malignant hepatocyte models. Primary human hepatocytes (PHHs), although the gold standard, are limited availability, donor variability, and rapid functional decline, restricting long-term and high-throughput use. In contrast, cancer-derived lines, such as HepG2 and Huh7, display altered gene expression and impaired metabolic competence.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing of human prostate basal epithelial cells reveals zone‐specific cellular populations and gene expression signatures
Introduction It has been well established that developmental origin for certain tissues contributes to disease risk. This phenomenon is particularly evident in the prostate, rendering it a good model to understand fundamental questions about cells and tissue of disease origin. The human prostate is an androgen-regulated organ of the male reproductive system that is anatomically segregated into three distinct glandular zones – central (CZ), peripheral (PZ), and transition (TZ) [1-3].

These elements typically reside distal to their target promoter, with which they must interact selectively.
The Evolutionary Origination and Diversification of a Dimorphic Gene Regulatory Network through Parallel Innovations in cis and trans
The origination and diversification of morphological characteristics represents a key problem in understanding the evolution of development. Morphological traits result from gene regulatory networks (GRNs) that form a web of transcription factors, which regulate multiple cis-regulatory element (CRE) sequences to control the coordinated expression of differentiation genes.
